The Tonar Street project for housing NZ was a multi-unit redevelopment. There are 44 units in total, including 18 three story walk-up apartments, 3,4 and 5 bedroom terrace houses and town houses.

The housing design is focussed on contributing to the greater community and not just on the building itself. There is an emphasis on environment through the use of sustainable and long lasting materials as well as a balance between the built form and the overall neighborhood. The design complies with the National Guideline for Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design in New Zealand.

The project was also part of a pilot to introduce solar hot water systems in to New Zealand and contributes significantly to the overall sustainability over the lifetime of the development.
